After much discussion with medical staff, veterinarians and our board of directors we have decided to cancel Bark in the Park this year due to the recent outbreak of Kennel Cough & Pneumonia in our area. We are very disappointed as this is our big summer fundraiser raising crucial funds for us. More importantly we will miss the fun & will miss seeing all our alumni dogs come out to celebrate with Stafford Animal Shelter. We will still have the 5K Fun Run @10:00am but ask that you do not bring your dogs this year. We will be updating all the PR and information shortly. Our thoughts are with all the families and pets who have been affected by this terrible virus.
Here are some links from local articles on the outbreak:

Our annual Fur Ball will be held on May 20th, 2016 at Chico Hot Springs Resort with a Black and White theme! As our biggest fundraiser of the year, the money raised is crucial to keep our doors open to not only cats and dogs, but all unwanted pets. We are the only shelter in the area that will take small pocket pets and exotic pets also. We have no length of stay requirement and will house pets as long as it takes to find them a loving forever home. We help families in crisis, whether by domestic violence, flooding, car accident etc., by caring for their pets until they are safe to go back home. Our shelter reaches far beyond Park County with the rise of our Social Media presence and our excellent reputation for animal advocacy. We have on average 2,500 hits a day on our Facebook page and just last week our posts reached 17,000 viewers making us one of the most visited sites in Park County.
This year’s gala benefit will be held on Friday, May 20th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. The event will be graciously sponsored by, and held at, Chico Hot Springs Resort and Day Spa. www.chicohotsprings.com
Our theme this year is “Adoption: The Choice is Black and White”. We are encouraging festive black and white attire and Chico has put together an amazingly creative black and white menu! In addition to the fabulous wine and food, we are pleased to have music by very popular local band “Someday Miss Pray”.
We also have a very large silent and live auction that features exciting offerings for the community that we service. (Stay tuned for full list of auction items and Luxury Raffle Tickets).
