Thanks for sharing the great story Kristen - we especially love to see what puppies look like when they grow up - and into their new homes!

That's a wonderful story and a very lucky dog! I wish that everyone was as thoughtful about the needs of both the animal and the family. For the folks who can't, or unable to (for whatever reason), go through the time to address medical issues through home-cooked meals for their pet, I would strongly encourage everyone to, at the very least, look at the ingredient list on the side of their pet food packages. There are food options that are a lot better than what is offered on a mass market level. I feel good feeding my two dogs Castor and Pollux Organix adult dog food. I don't think it is reasonable to feed your pet something that you wouldn't eat as a part of your diet (I'm talking about the list of ingredients, not the actual food from the bag). I don't think that there is anything listed on their food that I wouldn't eat myself.

I've had several dogs over the years get snake bitten - mostly copperheads and the vet had me give them Benadryl as quickly as possible (I learned to keep it on hand) and make sure you take your dog to the vet. Snake bites are dirty and can become infected.
