Stafford Shelter Obedience Classes at The Shane Center!

Shane Center Stafford Ad 2018Stafford Animal Shelter in Livingston Montana is proud to be partnering with another excellent non-profit,  The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts to offer our basic obedience classes and private training in their convenient downtown location. We are thrilled that The Shane Center generously allows us to use their ballroom and courtyard for instructions during the harsh Montana winters. Both our organization’s missions align when it comes to community education and we realize the importance of basic obedience classes to fix minor behavioral issues, that left unaddressed,  may lead a dog to be surrendered to the Shelter. Being proactive with a dog’s behavior, in some cases, can be a life-saving act.

Avoiding surrenders not only keeps families happy and healthy,  it keeps the operating costs of the Shelter down as the “average length of stay cost” per animal is $600.  Before being adopted out, all animals are spay/neutered, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped & behavior assessed.  While the animals are in our care they are given individualized assessments including monitoring their diets, medications, enrichment and socialization plans.  Stafford is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is not affiliated with any national animal welfare organizations and does not receive funding from governmental agencies.   We are an open admissions shelter that accepts any animal in need regardless of breed, age or health conditions.  We have no length of stay or space restrictions for healthy, adoptable animals and they are welcome here with us until they find their forever home.  We are dependent on community donations, fundraisers and outreach programs, like these classes, to raise funds to keep our doors open to the 1,000+ animals we serve each year.  We couldn’t do it without generous Business Partners like The Shane Center helping!Stafford Animal Shelter Classes room view

Classes are taught by our Canine Behaviorist, Tony Marcuzzo. Class size is limited in order to give individualized attention to you and your dog. Classes are open to the entire community and each course is 4 weeks long, 1 hour each. Cost for the entire course is $60 for Stafford alumni, $80 for altered dogs and puppies and $120 for unaltered dogs. If group classes don’t fit in your schedule or they are not a good fit for your dog,  we now offer private consultations and training sessions for $30/hour plus $.50 mileage for instruction in your home.  Private sessions can also be held at Stafford Animal Shelter or The Shane Center.  Proof of vaccinations is required (rabies, kennel cough, and parvo/distemper vaccinations) and (human) participants must be at least 18 years of age.
