Tonka’s (aka Star’s) adoption story

Tonka! Our story began in May of ’10 when we had to put down Dexy our German Shepherd of 14 1/2 yrs. She was an amazing dog and was adopted back in 1996. She was a huge part of our family and while she will always remain in our hearts, in October ’10 we started looking for another dog to rescue and welcome into our home.

Rosie Fund Alumni now Art Gallery Resident

Sly is something special and much happier without the painful leg.

While not an artist in residence, Sly Goodman can be found artfully lounging at Moredam Art in Livingston. Sly came in to the Shelter wounded, in pain and crabby as all get out in 2008. After his surgery to remove his mangled leg, he healed up and perked up. Despite meeting hundreds of great Shelter pets every year, Development Director Kris King fell hard for Sly and his squishy, brave face and still refers to him as “my boyfriend.” Bonnie Goodman offered to have him at the Gallery during the busy holiday season for potential adopters to meet. His personality, resilency and goofy face became mainstays at the Gallery so Parke and Bonnie Goodman adopted him – and you can get to meet him when you stop by Moredam Art at 109 South Main Street in Livingston.
