Our Volunteers Make It Happen
Our community of volunteers makes a huge difference in the lives of our shelter animals. We are so grateful for the folks who give their time and energy to help homeless pets.
There are many ways to volunteer at Stafford Animal Shelter. Please read through the options below, or reach out to Amanda Maguire, our Volunteer Coordinator, at
outreach@staffordanimalshelter.org.
Visitors
Cat Companions, Zoo Buddies, and Puppy Cuddlers
Who: Walk-in visitors are welcome to spend calm, relaxing time with our shelter cats, zoo animals, and puppies. Any minor must always be accompanied by an adult.
What: Visitors should always check in at the front desk so they can hear specific information about our current shelter animals.
When: Wednesday–Sunday, 12pm–5pm. Please limit your stay to 30 minutes so animals can rest between visitors.
Trained Volunteers
Animal Enrichment, Dog Walking, Shelter Projects
Who: Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. All minors must have guardian permission. You’ll need a passion for animals and a willingness to learn.
What: Dog walking, animal enrichment and socialization, cleaning projects, maintenance, arts & crafts, and events.
When: Before signing up for shifts, volunteers must submit a Volunteer Application and attend Volunteer Orientation (3:30pm–5:00pm on the first Thursday of every month).
Community Service
School, Work, or Court Hours
Who: We accept volunteers needing community service hours for school, work, or court. Requests are subject to staff and project availability.
Stafford Animal Shelter cannot accommodate volunteers convicted of crimes related to theft, violence, or narcotics.
What: Yardwork, maintenance, cleaning, organizing, and general shelter upkeep projects.
When: Submit a Community Service Application. Once received, our team will reach out to schedule your first shift.
Group Volunteer Projects
We welcome corporate volunteer groups and school tours. Please note we limit the number of groups and the age of participants due to shelter space and staff availability.
Contact Amanda to reserve a spot.
