To minimize the emotional distress caused by surrendering a pet, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions, suggestions and alternatives that may support you and your pet during this difficult time.

Before You Bring a Pet In
- Please call ahead so we can guide you and plan appropriately.
- Bring any vet records, medications, and details about behavior and routines.
- If the pet has bitten someone recently or has medical concerns, tell us up front—no judgment, just safety planning.
What to Expect
- We’ll ask questions to understand the best placement options.
- Some surrenders may require an appointment depending on capacity and staffing.
